Tarou (From Japanese 太 (ta) "thick, big" and 郎 (rou) "son")Age:
Northern Water Tribe (Water Bender Father, Earth Bender Mother), lives and works in Republic CityAffinity:
As an athletic 6’3’’ and 198 lbs man he’s quite vigorous.
His hugs are deadly hi jacket
Although he doesn’t look like it, he’s quite gifted with his hands
besides crushing skulls
and can make quite detailed and delicate pieces of jewelry from stone, bone and wood. He used to work on those the whole time while he still lived with his family, but nowadays it’s just a way to pass time or a sort of anger management.
Something he acquired through hard training and now is making a living with as a policeman.Personality:
Tarou appears calm and composed most of the time, his face carved into a perpetual frown. In truth he is quite a passionate person and it takes him a lot of self-discipline to not lose his composure over things that upset him. He is pretty stern and righteous and quickly feels overwhelmed by things that slip out of his control. Due to his job and being picked on as a kid he has difficulties to trust people, but once he has taken a liking on somebody he is willing to make incredibly high personal sacrifices for said person’s wellbeing, to the point where he gets patronizing and overbearing.RP sample:
He made no effort to kindle all the lights, after all, he soon would sink to his bed completely exhausted. Or at least what could be seen of it. His eyes slid over the stacking newspaper articles and magazines, long overdue laundry and – even he had to wrinkle his nose at the sight - an enormous amount of empty food boxes from the snack bar next door. Tarou had never been a great cook, but ever since he had gotten the job in the police force, he had confined his food intake to eating out. Today was no different. The evening meal dangled down his wrist halfheartedly packed in a bag. He was just about to sit down for dinner as he heard a soft knock on the door. A strange sound that he rarely ever heard. Never, to be exact. Especially not at such an ungodly hour.
His eyes constantly fixed on the door, he let the food box down on the coffee table and carefully reached for the door clink. The hallway was dark, his own shadow obscuring the slender figure that stood before him. "Tarou,
" The voice didn’t seem familiar, but the tone of it he recognized immediately. "It's been a long time, brother.
Tarou was born in the Northern Water Tribe, unfortunately as an earth bender, just like his mother. She thought him all she could, but the icy environment was not quite suitable for that purpose and Tarou never felt like belonging there. At the age of 15 he left for Ba Sing Se to deepen his bending skills. He turned out to be quite talented and - after a few years- was even able to master the art of metal bending. At 19 he changed his location once again and moved to live in Republic City, aspiring to be a part of the metal bending police.
He used to be a short and chubby kid, hitting puberty pretty late. To everyone’s surprise he stretched out quite a bit while stress, tough training and being away from his mother’s good cooking did the rest. This is however still a relevant and rather delicate topic, so if you want to get on his bad side just call him ‘Fatty’.
His sense of humor is underdeveloped to non-existent.
Tarou used to live in a small flat all by himself while housekeeping neither counts to his interests, nor his strengths. Until he took in his sister, his home pretty much resembled a chaotic tip.
Very overprotective of his little sister: [link]
